New film tax credit rates give industry certainty and protect taxpayers

It was announced, yesterday, that starting in October, 2016, the basic production services tax credit rate will be 28%, which is 5 points lower than the current rate. The digital animation or visual effects (DAVE) tax credit rate will be reduced 1.5 points to 16%.

TV series that begin shooting before October 1st will be grandfathered under the current rate for one season.

We regret to inform our Membership of the passing of Retired IATSE Local 669 Member, Dave Kelly on March 28th, 2016.

The family has informed us there will be a service at Mountain View Cemetery (41st and Fraiser) on Saturday, May 21st at 10 AM.

Kimberley French's Behind-the-Scenes Look at 'The Revenant' - Taschen Gallery, LA

Currently on display at the Taschen Gallery,  Los Angeles, is a selection of photographs of behind-the-scenes images from the award winning film, 'The Revenant' by Stills Photographer and Local 669 Member, Kimberley French. 

This display, which includes props and relics from the film, is in celebration of the new signed, limited edition book featuring Kimberley French's photographs of 'The Revenant' coming this fall.

NAB Show | Las Vegas: April 16-21, 2016

So you’ve decided to go to NAB, and you don’t really know what to expect? Hopefully this primer will make your visit worthwhile, and enjoyable. There are some facts you should think about before you commit to going. 

The show takes place at the Las Vegas convention center from April 16 through 21. In 2015 there were 1789 exhibitors spread across 1,015,000 square feet, and over 103,000 visitors. You should expect to walk upwards of 8 miles every day.
