The Executive Board would like to announce the hire of our new Business Agent, Keith Woods. Guided by the MacDonald Search Group the BA Hiring Committee interviewed many qualified candidates and, in the end, gave their recommendations for Keith. Keith has been a long-time member of IATSE 891, with a combined 40 years of experience as a technician and 25 years as a rigging gaffer. He has worked across the country, starting as a theatre technician, road crew with touring bands and then moving into film and TV.
Keith is currently the IATSE 891 President, ending his tenure to join our team. As IA 891’s President, Keith has represented the local at GEBs, managed day-to-day operations, and worked with the board and staff. He has been an integral part of the 891 bargaining team during this round of negotiations with the AMPTP. He is on several committees within our community; the IATSE International Green Committee where he was appointed by President Loeb, Heritage Canada Ministerial Consultative Committee on Greening the Arts, Culture and Heritage Sector, Entertainment Safety and Technology Association, and has been the IA 891 representative at Actsafe to name a few. He has also been involved with public speaking engagements, including the ARRI Lighting Symposium in Salzburg Austria. His experience as a rigging gaffer, in addition to his time on the 891 board, gives Keith a unique set of skills that will be an asset to ICG 669. We truly believe that Keith will be able to advocate for members on the floor, while also understanding how to interact with Producers on our behalf.
Keith’s contract will start on January 4th, 2022. Rob Rowan, our Prairies’ BA, and Wendy Newton, our current Interim BA, and Assistant BA, are looking forward to working with Keith to best represent our membership. The Executive Board and Staff look forward to welcoming Keith Woods in the new year.
In solidarity,
ICG 669 Executive Board
