Emmy-award winning documentary cinematographer Ian Kerr csc introduces participants to the “golden age” of documentary filmmaking and how to navigate the new landscape. Touching on cultural, technical and artistic aspects unique to documentary, Ian will share insights from projects he’s shot all over the globe for clients including Apple, Netflix, BBC and National Geographic. While the majority of the afternoon is focused on cinematography, there will also be a dedicated time to discuss the demanding yet rewarding role of a doc camera assistant and the path to upgrading.

Open to experienced CSC + ICG 669 Cinematographers, Operators & Camera Assistants and ideal for those who are interested in documentary but unsure of what steps to take.
