B.C. FILMED PRODUCTIONS TO PARTICIPATE IN THE 2015 REEL THANKSGIVING CHALLENGE
MEDIA RELEASE | Friday, September 25th 2015
Film & Television productions across British Columbia are set for a ratings war of a different kind as they line up against one another in support of the Greater Vancouver Food Bank.
Beginning today, 36 production companies and five local unions currently filming in BC have signed up to the third annual Reel Thanksgiving Challenge to see who has the most fans and followers in their community.
The two-week fund and food-raising challenge is hoping to eclipse last year’s fundraising total and to inject a bit of fun into a busy filming schedule ahead of Christmas.
Last year REEL Thanksgiving Challenge raised over $63,000.00 in much needed food and funds for the Food Bank.
Aart Schuurman Hess, CEO of the Greater Vancouver Food Bank, says:
“We are very fortunate to have such a strong, vibrant and community minded film and television industry in Vancouver. We were astounded by the enthusiasm shown by BC based productions last year and we certainly appreciate their support of the Food Bank.”
TV Series “Arrow” picked up last year’s industry win after pulling in $7,709.75 in funds and a surprise $10,087.50 in food donations, blowing away the competition….
The fundraising fun starts on Sept. 28th and ends Oct. 9, for more information and to get involved visit https://www.foodbank.bc.ca/reel-thanksgiving-challenge
